Starboard Hotels acquires two Holiday Inn Express sites


Hotel owner, developer and operator Starboard Hotels has further expanded its growing portfolio of UK-wide properties, with the announcement of its latest acquisitions, the Holiday Inn Express Tamworth (pictured) and the Holiday Inn Express Ramsgate.

Starboard has now completed on the two hotels, which were marketed by Christie and Co. for offers in excess of £11,450k. This latest purchase sees Starboard’s portfolio rise to 13 hotels and brings the number of Holiday Inn Express branded properties owned and operated by Starboard to five, adding to the Holiday Inn Express hotels in Greenock, Burnley and Leeds Armouries.

The 120-bedroomed Holiday Inn Express Tamworth built in 2010, is a contemporary lake-side hotel situated on the outskirts of the historic town centre, adjacent to the Tamworth SnowDome and leisure centre and minutes from the M42. The Holiday Inn Express Ramsgate, Minster, features 105 bedrooms which were added to an art deco listed building in 2008 providing a contemporary twist.

Both hotels will continue trading under the Holiday Inn Express brand and will be operated by Starboard Hotels Ltd under franchise from IHG. Starboard plan to invest in both hotels to achieve the latest IHG standards, offering a technology and design-led guest experience to meet the changing demands of today’s guests.

In addition to the Holiday Inn Express hotels, the company also own and operate the Best Western Carlton Blackpool, Days Inn Wetherby Ibis hotels in Sheffield, Birmingham, Leicester, Plymouth and Gatwick and operate Best Western Plus Epping, taking the portfolio to over 1200 bedrooms.

Starboard, who have recently been accredited IIP (Investors In People), are proud to announce that the addition of these latest hotels brings the number of people in the Starboard team to 230.
