£800k refurb delivers best season for Sodexo at Scottish racecourse

Sodexo Prestige Venues & Events has reported its best season yet at Hamilton Park Racecourse, Hamilton, as the number of hospitality guests increased by 10% following the venue’s £800k refurbishment earlier this year.

Brian Martin, General Manager for Sodexo Prestige Venues & Events at Hamilton Park Racecourse, said that the transformation of the prestigious sports and entertainment venue has proved to be a great success with customers.

“There’s no doubt that the extensive refurbishment of the racecourse facilities make it more attractive for visitors to enjoy a day at the races. There is now a wider choice of places to eat and drink with the introduction of The Hill, a new upmarket bar and eatery in what was previously the Conservatory Café, which offers a mouth-watering range of fresh food. With its stunning views across the parade ring, The Hill is proving popular with diners who enjoy top quality locally-sourced dishes.

Martin added that the refreshed menu and significant improvement in facilities has also been good for private event business.

He said, “We’ve seen a rise in revenues at all the bars and restaurant on figures from the previous season, with The Hill’s revenue going up by 232 percent and overall seated covers by 82 percent. For the 7,000 plus people booked into the Duke’s restaurant, customer satisfaction was 99 percent positive.

'More importantly queuing times at the bars is now under five minutes. Our relationship with the racecourse continues to go from strength to strength and we recently extended our partnership with them for a further ten years.”

On the back of their successful season, Sodexo Prestige Venues & Events has appointed Stewart Boyle as their new assistant operations manager in an internal promotion. Stewart was previously the lead person looking after the cellar and stores at the racecourse.
