New events head appointed at Imperial War Museum

A senior sales manager has been appointed to head the events team at leading London visitor attraction, Imperial War Museum.

Peyton Events, catering partner at IWM London, has promoted former event sales manager Laura Fitzgerald to the position, in which she will be tasked with building the venue’s corporate client base.

Laura, from Canvey Island, Essex, started her career at The Savoy, as a member of the banqueting and event team, before joining the sales teams at Novotel London Excel and Venue Reservations, which is Crown Partnership.

IWM London, which tells the story of those whose lives have been shaped by conflict, from the First World War to the present day, through permanent and temporary exhibitions, has unique and diverse event spaces for everything from small scale meetings and private lunches to large gala dinners and drinks parties.

Its Atrium - one of the most dramatic event spaces in London – features some of the 20th century’s most famous aircraft, including a rare Battle of Britain Spitfire, a Harrier jet used in Afghanistan and a German V2 rocket, suspended from the 25m high vaulted ceiling.

Its covered Roof Terrace, designed by Foster + Partners and showcasing 21st century design and technology, is an inspirational setting for everything from product launches and business breakfasts, to presentations and corporate dinners, while the Orpen Boardroom overlooks the museum’s famous entrance with its two impressive 15-inch naval guns.

Peyton Events marketing manager, Jane Murphy, said Laura’s promotion was testament to her skill and commitment since joining the company in 2017.

“She not only became, quite rapidly, a valued member of the team but she also showed that extra initiative and ability that we look for when making senior appointment,” she said.

“This promises to be a very special year for IWM as we will unveil our new outdoor event space and we are confident Laura will be instrumental in introducing it to corporate clients and event organisers throughout London and beyond.”
