University Of Leicester To Build Dedicated Conference Centre

The University of Leicester has revealed plans to build a £14m conference centre by converting Grade II-listed former halls of residence. Planning permission has been granted and work is to begin early next year on its five-acre College Hall site in knighton, which has been unused since 2005.

The building will be transformed into a conference facility including one 150-seat lecture theatre, break out rooms, dining facilities and 117 ensuite bedrooms. On completion, event organisers will be able to book the venue all year round. The work is due for completion in the middle of 2013.
