Aberdeen Airport exec lounge launches new menu full of Scottish brands

The Northern Lights Executive Lounge at Aberdeen Airport has just welcomed some well-known suppliers, one year on from its launch, including Mackie's, Rora Dairy, Summerhouse Drinks and Amity Fish Company, spearheaded by one of Scotland's best-loved seafood supplier, Jimmy Buchan.

The lounge's updated menu will feature these new brands, joining the best of the region's food and drink businesses including BrewDog, Gordon Castle Gin and Dean's Shortbread.

The airport will continue to work with Aberdeen's Kilted Chef, Craig Wilson of Eat on the Green, who assisted with the selection of local suppliers and influenced the menu on offer within the lounge.

Representatives provided samples for passengers travelling through the terminal, and Calum Richardson, Chef and Director of the award-winning The Bay Fish and Chips, was on hand to serve up free tasters at the airport entrance.

Mr Richardson said: 'For The Bay Fish and Chips and the Airport to be working together in partnership is an endorsement of the quality of our products. Aberdeen Airport is often the first impression people have of Scotland, Aberdeen and our local area, so it's essential that we showcase the very best of what's here on our doorsteps - and for us, that involves local suppliers.

'I'm thrilled to have our award-winning The Bay Fish and Chips fish cakes, made with sustainable ingredients, in the lounge - what a great thing to be able to enjoy! We hope it will make a lasting positive impression of Scottish produce as people head to their next destination - whether their travel is for business or pleasure.'

Carol Benzie, Managing Director of Aberdeen International Airport, said: 'The Northern Lights Executive Lounge is a real success story in the airport's recent history, and one we are incredibly proud of.'

'It's fantastic to showcase the region's best produce and suppliers right here in our lounge, so visitors and locals alike can really get a taste for what Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire has to offer.

'All of the products showcased today at the first birthday event will be available from today, and we cannot wait to share our new menu with our visitors to the lounge.'

In the past twelve months, the Northern Lights Executive Lounge has welcomed more than 110,000 visitors through its doors. The lounge is available to all passengers, including families, and is located on the first floor of the main terminal.
