Michelin star chef to launch concept at Boxpark Wembley

The latest vendor to join the hotly anticipated Boxpark is brand new street food concept, KoolCha. Boxpark Wembley will open to the public at 11am on 8 December.

The Indian comfort food concept KoolCha is the brainchild of Michelin star chef Rohit Ghai and his business partner Abhishake Sangwan.

KoolCha will serve up an extensive all-day menu of delicacies reminiscent of the chef’s childhood memories, the highlight being traditional North Indian 'Kulcha' flatbreads, filled with unique and innovative flavours and served alongside a delicious selection of homemade pickles, dal, raitas and chutneys.

Visitors to KoolCha can expect to see some of Rohit’s secret family recipes given a contemporary twist, as well as an exotic drink and cocktail menu highlighting signature hot and cold fruit iced teas and innovative cocktails and Indian beers.

Ghai’s reputation amongst the London restaurant scene is of the highest culinary pedigree, having honed his craft at some of the most prestigious hotels and restaurants in India.

Ghai and Sangwan have headed a number of successful operations including the multi-award winning Trishna, Gymkhana, Hoppers, Bombay Bustle and Jamavar, where Ghai was awarded a Michelin star within the first ten months of the restaurant’s opening, an enormous achievement that no other Indian chef has reached in this time frame.

KoolCha is the second solo venture for Ghai and Sangwan following the launch of Kutir, their fine dining restaurant in Chelsea this month.

Ghai said, “I have had the great fortune to work with Abhishake Sangwan over the last decade and we both felt we were ready for the next challenge. KoolCha will be a new Pan-Indian restaurant concept that promises to reinvigorate the Indian food space. We are excited to launch KoolCha at Boxpark Wembley which will provide a great platform for our brainchild concept to flourish as part of London’s most exciting casual dining community.”

KoolCha is the most recent addition to the Boxpark Wembley lineup, sitting alongside other recent sign-ups: Boki, TapaVino, WOLF, Gabagools, Oatopia, Bombay Burrito, Hola Guacamole, Cut + Grind, The Athenian, Mitsuryu, Zucla, Mama Jacq’s, Nanny Bills, Smoky Boys, Kabab, Spice Shack, Zia Lucia, Ugly Dumpling and Thai Express.
