The Langham, London has appointed Marco Corallo to the role of Head Bartender at Artesian, the creative cocktail bar at the heart of the central London hotel, replacing Rémy Savage, who is leaving to pursue his own projects.
Corallo (pictured left), who will work alongside Bar Manager, Anna Sebastian (right), is joining the team from Caesar’s Palace & Resort in Dubai where, as Beverage Manager, he oversaw a total of 14 different food and drinks outlets and was the creative director of cocktail lists.
Corallo, originally from Italy, began his career in London at The Savoy, where he was head sommelier at Kaspar’s Seafood Bar and Grill, before moving to the Middle East and increasing his expertise in the bar world, first at Ray’s Bar at the Jumeirah at Etihad Towers in Abu Dhabi and subsequently at Hendricks Bar at the Four Seasons Jumeirah Beach in Dubai.
During his time in the Middle East, Corallo garnered recognition and awards, taking Hendricks Bar to the Top Five Hotel Bar in the Middle East & Africa in 2018 in Tales of the Cocktail.
Just this year, Corallo’s menu at Laurel Bar in Caesar’s Palace Resort & Spa, ‘Ecosystems of Gaia’, helped the bar gain a Top 5 position in Tales of the Cocktail’s New Cocktail Bar Middle East and Africa, and be mentioned as one the Top 10 New World Cocktail Bar to visit in an article by Cocktail Lovers.
Corallo said, ‘I’m so excited to be back in London in a dream role at Artesian, a bar with so much history and style. The London bar scene is really thrilling at the moment and I hope to create new and exciting ways to enjoy cocktails, working with Anna Sebastian and the great team at The Langham, London.’
In addition to re-joining the World’s 50 Best Bars at #48; Artesian was awarded ‘Bar of the Year’ in the Food & Travel Awards 2019 and team members have won or been finalists in over a dozen individual competitions.
The bar recently created a new Take Over series with bartenders from all over the world, from Sheffield’s Public to Singapore’s Manhattan, all taking a turn behind Artesian’s elegant marble bar alongside the Artesian team. This series culminates on 5 November with an all-female takeover, showcasing the world’s most creative bartenders.
