Manchester airport proposes £650m business park scheme

Manchester Airport’s parent company Manchester Airports Group (MAG) has submitted plans to transform 65 acres of scrub land in an enterprise zone near the M56 into a £650million development mix of office space, hotels and manufacturing centres which will create 11,400 jobs in an aim to attract global business to the North West.

Detailed proposals include: 1.2m sq ft of offices, 530,000 sq ft of manufacturing space, around 1,300 hotel beds, 62,000 sq ft of ancillary retail, extensive new public realm and open-space, including a 13 acre central park area, a new multi storey car park and a wide landscaped ‘green bridge’ over the M56 spur road to provide pedestrian access and a new iconic gateway.

The outline planning application has been submitted to Manchester City Council and follows public consultations carried out in the local area by MAG.
