Flat Iron is set to launch Flat Iron Clink Street next month, its new 90-cover restaurant located in the heart of London’s historic Bankside.
Situated close to iconic neighbours Borough Market, The Globe Theatre and Southwark Cathedral, the restaurant will open its doors on the narrow, cobbled Clink Street, itself renowned as the site of the notorious Clink Prison.
Clink Street will continue Flat Iron’s single-minded commitment to serving great steak for everyone. Their short menu consists of the signature ‘Flat Iron’ steak - taken from the often overlooked featherblade and known for its flavour and tenderness when butchered with skill and care - and sides including beef dripping chips, creamed spinach and roast aubergine with tomato and basil.
Fred Smith, Head of Beef, and his team will also be debuting a new ex-dairy short rib chilli cheeseburger special, available exclusively at Clink Street for the month of September.
The ex-dairy beef used in the burger has been carefully selected from a farm in Northumberland where the animals are put back out to pasture with access to lush, nutrient rich grass and home-grown forage when their working life comes to an end. Coming from an older animal, the beef has a rich and pronounced flavour that stands up to the heat from the chilies.
Head of Beef Fred Smith said, “After the well-publicised challenges of the past 18 months, it feels really exciting to be able to open a new Flat Iron restaurant again. Clink Street is a historic area of London and we’ve got a beautiful Victorian building to work with.
'We can’t wait to meet our new neighbours and continue to demonstrate Flat Iron’s commitment to quality, working with the very best suppliers and produce.”
