Albion & East to open fourth site next month

On 3 April, a stone’s throw away from Old Street station, Albion & East will open its fourth site, Serata Hall, offering an in-house distillery, daily bakery and simple, quality food.

Open from 6.30am through to 11.30pm on weekdays, the eclectic new space will close its doors at 12.30am on the weekend.

The venue’s super-fast Wi-Fi and hot-desk spaces will make it an ideal day-time spot for busy city workers. Visitors can work whilst enjoying fresh bottomless coffee from the venue’s Tiny Tower Bakery.

Catering to London’s gin lovers, Serata Hall will house an on-site distillery featuring bespoke gin still, ‘Agnes’, which makes the Small Batch Serata Hall gin. The gin features distinctive flavours and will be available for visitors to drink at the venue and buy on-site.

Groups looking to hone their own gin skills can sign up to Gin Blending Masterclasses, where they will learn how to blend, bottle and name two gins to take away, as well as learning how to make three gin cocktails.

Cocktail trolleys will feature all the accompaniments needed for making delicious drinks for revellers to sip on whilst dancing the night away to vinyl gems, with an unrivalled mix of London DJs, and live bands providing the soundtrack.

Guests will have the option to either create their own cocktails or ‘Book a Bartender’, where mixologists will conjure up inventive cocktails. Absinthe will also feature, served the classic French way – slow drop fountain, goblet, stirring spoon and a sugar cube.

Like its sister venues Canova Hall and Martello Hall, Serata Hall’s wine will be on tap - boasting a selection of 12 wines, which makes it the biggest selection of tap wine outside the United States. Whilst relatively unknown in the UK, tap wine is set to gain popularity as it offers numerous benefits over bottled wine.

The first is its dramatically reduced carbon footprint as it requires significantly less packaging and minimises wastage from unfinished bottles. What’s more, tap wine does not suffer from oxidation or corkage meaning the wine stays fresh and flavoursome. The wine will be joined by five draught beers from local brewers and suppliers, which will change on rotation.

Tiny Tower Bakery is Serata Hall’s in-house bakery, where baked goods including pastries, cakes, bread and pizza dough will be made freshly on-site every day for Serata Hall and sister sites in Brixton and Hackney. Available until 5pm to eat in or take away, the bakery will offer everything from pistachio croissants to blueberry lemon drizzle cake and mouth-watering Italian bomboloni doughnuts, served with local jam or Nutella.

In-keeping with its sister venues, Serata Hall will also make all of its food on-site and will use 48-hour fermented dough and an authentic coal oven to offer the same top-quality pizzas. Fans of sister bar Martello Hall in Hackney will be able to order some of their favourites, including the Rock Star Margherita and London Field with the chef’s meatballs.

The menu also includes a range of standout pasta dishes, such as the Truffle Tagliatelle, made with gorgonzola, walnuts, mushrooms, truffle oil, pink peppercorns, salsa di noci and thyme and the Slow Beef Rigatoni which a 12-hour slow beef ragu made with parmesan and flat leaf parsley. The popular Fried Vegan ‘Chicken’ is also set to be a big hit, alongside other vegan options like Beetroot Gnocchi and Vegan Viking Pizza.
