Willmott Dixon chosen for Brentford FC Stadium job

Construction giants Willmott Dixon, has been chosen as the preferred development partner for Bentford FC’s new stadium and 910 new homes close to Kew Bridge in London.

Brentford FC plan to move from its current nearby home at Lionel Road South and have submitted an application for a 20,000 capacity stadium, along with 910 new homes, a hotel and retail units for the local community.

Planning for the stadium was granted by Hounslow in December, although the scheme needs to be rubber-stamped by the London Mayor and Communities Secretary.

Willmott Dixon’s development arm Regan will build new homes in 11 tower blocks of seven to 17-storeys surrounding the Lionel Road South brownfield site. It will then deliver further homes on the existing Griffin Park ground once the club relocates to its new home.

Andrew Telfer, divisional chief executive at Willmott Dixon Regen, said: “Willmott Dixon also shares a strong commitment with Brentford FC that our work should enhance the surrounding community. Alongside a new purpose-built home for the club, these proposals will provide facilities to benefit the wider community, attract further inward investment to create business and job opportunities and enhance the area as an attractive place to live.
