Huge queues as Jeremy Clarkson’s pub opens over the weekend

The presenter has opened his first pub, the Farmer’s Dog, after losing a battle with the council to operate a restaurant on his Diddly Squat Farm.

Jeremy Clarkson's pub, the Farmer’s Dog, attracted huge crowds over the weekend, with hundreds of people lining up ahead of its official opening.

The presenter officially opened his pub, named the Farmer’s Dog, to cheers from the crowd at 12pm on Friday.

He told waiting customers: “Every single thing, even the black pepper and the sugar, is grown or reared by British farmers, everything.”

Clarkson mentioned that he paid 'less than £1 million' for the former Windmill pub near Burton, Oxfordshire.

The pub, now named the Farmer’s Dog, features a tractor hanging from the ceiling and serves Hawkstone beer on tap, which is brewed by Clarkson in collaboration with the Cotswold Brewing Co.

The Farmer’s Dog pub also includes an outpost of Clarkson's Diddly Squat Farm Shop and an outdoor tent named the Farmer’s Puppy. This tent serves as an additional bar and kitchen area, providing extra space for customers when the main pub is full.

A note on the door stated that only two people were barred from entering: Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Clarkson’s fellow Grand Tour presenter, James May.

Clarkson purchased the pub earlier this year after losing a legal battle with West Oxfordshire District Council to operate a restaurant on his nearby Diddly Squat Farm.

He took over running the farm in 2019 and has been praised for highlighting the challenges faced by farmers through his Amazon Prime series, Clarkson’s Farm.
