DUKES London to close for renovations

The five-star Mayfair hotel, DUKES London, is closing its doors for 'extensive renovations' as part of an ongoing refurbishment project.

During the ongoing refurbishment, DUKES Bar will remain open and continue to operate during its regular hours.

Interior designer Russell Sage will oversee the renovation, and as part of the redesign, DUKES London will collaborate with a historian to explore the hotel's legacy and the history of the surrounding St James’s area. The insights gained will be integrated into the hotel’s new identity.

Michael Purtill, general manager at DUKES London, said: “This is a momentous occasion for the hotel and we’re thrilled to embark on a new chapter.

“For decades, our loyal guests have cherished the warmth, charm, and intimacy that define the DUKES experience. This refurbishment allows us to preserve those beloved elements while creating a space that feels elegant, inviting, and unforgettable. It’s our way of ensuring that DUKES London remains an icon of British hospitality.”

The refurbishment is expected to be completed by late 2025.

The hotel features 90 rooms and suites, the Great British Restaurant, DUKES Bar, a drawing room for afternoon tea, multiple meeting and event spaces, and a gym.
