Mildreds to launch new concept for Borough Market this autumn

This autumn, Mildreds will open a brand new restaurant concept, Mallow in the heart of London's Borough Market, opposite Southwark Cathedral.

Since 1988, Mildreds has built up a reputation for pioneering plant-based cooking, leading the way on the rising dining movement.

The Mallow concept has been created by the same highly experienced team behind Mildreds, to deliver an elevated concept serving fresh, colourful and internationally inspired plant-based food.

The one-off concept, created exclusively for Borough Market, will be an extension of the market, bringing to life the history of the market and the produce that it sells.

As a 100% plant-based restaurant, Mallow will bring a truly unique dining and lifestyle experience to the Borough Market area, offering a modern, relaxed dining-style atmosphere, serving seasonal plant-based & vegan dishes where fruit and vegetables will always take centre stage.

Head of Food Development for Mildreds, Sarah Wasserman will be leading on the food, ensuring there is a strong focus on sustainability, seasonality and provenance.

Sustainability and limited-waste will be at the heart of Mallow’s offering, ensuring the restaurant leaves a positive impact on the environment. Seasonal fruit and vegetables will be the star of the show with small and large plates served alongside fresh handmade plant-based burgers and desserts.

Throughout the menu, there will be dishes that include produce directly from Borough Market traders as daily specials, to showcase mallows support to the local community and use of seasonal produce.

Sam Anstey, Managing Director said, “We can’t wait to bring the new Mallow concept to Borough Market, we’re excited to join its fantastic community of traders and restaurants who have made the market an iconic food destination across London’s food scene.

'We hope to bring a truly unique dining experience to the area, with Mildreds’ famous 100% plant-based offering on an elevated scale, whilst incorporating produce from Borough Market traders where possible.”

With a relaxed and contemporary feel, the local Borough community will be at the restaurant’s core – reflected across every aspect of food, service and design.

The restaurant will be open to guests from early morning with a plant-based breakfast offer, transitioning from day into evening with the addition of a considered bar menu of vegan wines, beers and handcrafted cocktails.
