Mildreds to open two London sites in 2024 after securing additional funding

Plant-based restaurant Mildreds has recently secured a multi-million pound funding package to further expand its brands throughout London. The restaurant, which was established in 1988, currently operates seven locations across the capital, including two under the spin-off concept Mallow, introduced in 2021. This funding round was provided by existing investors Encore Capital, who have been supporting Mildreds' growth since 2019.

One of the new locations, scheduled to open in early 2024, will be situated in a Grade II-listed fire station in Wimbledon. The 100-cover restaurant will feature an outdoor terrace and introduce a new plant-based bakery concept called Mima, offering vegan pastries, open sandwiches, and classic Mildreds desserts. Additionally, another 120-cover restaurant in Victoria is set to launch, providing a diverse selection of plant-based dishes throughout the day.

Sam Anstey, the managing director, expressed enthusiasm for this substantial investment, highlighting the group's plans for expansion and innovation to offer even more exceptional dining experiences. He emphasized that despite ongoing economic challenges, Mildreds remains committed to thriving and seeking out opportunities for future growth. Anstey also noted the dedication of the team in building a local and international customer base, while upholding their commitment to delivering a delicious, cruelty-free menu and supporting sustainable practices that redefine the vegan dining experience.
