Orchid to introduce Red Tractor icon to young diners


As Orchid Pub Company reports a rise in turnover, the firm also announces how it is taking its commitment to British Produce once step further, turning its attention to it's young diners.

Orchid has long supported Red Tractor being one of the first pub firms to serve up British Farm Assured meats at its carveries and now wants to introduce the Red Tractor icon in several different guises.

Olly Jakes, Marketing Manager, explains, “We want the next generation to understand the importance of British produce and to have real passion for supporting home grown food. To do this, we believe you have to start educating kids as young as possible.”

The new Red Tractor initiatives include:
- Red Tractor themed kids’ play areas complete with Red Tractor slides
- Head Chefs will go into local schools to plant Red Tractor Kitchen Gardens
- Red tractor toys will be available for children to play with whilst dining
- New interactive Red Tractor kids menu colouring competition linked with Facebook

Orchid Pub Company, which currently operates 232 pubs, has reported EBITDA of £29.3m on turnover of £178.8m in 2012. The company saw average weekly sales rise to £14,100 per pub from £13,900 the year before.
