The Edenhall Country House Hotel, located near Penrith in Cumbria, is on the market for the first time in 17 years as its owners plan for retirement.
Paula and Wayne Williams have owned and managed the 25-bedroom hotel since purchasing it in 2008 for a guide price of £985,000.
It is now on the market through Christie & Co with a freehold asking price of £1.29 million.
Edenhall features a bar, restaurant, function room, conservatory, and a two-bedroom owners’ apartment. Additionally, it includes a three-bedroom duplex apartment that accommodates up to seven guests and can be rented as a self-contained, self-catering unit to generate extra income.
Paula said: “When we bought Edenhall, we were new to the hotel business and wanted a successful, thriving business at the heart of the village community. We worked hard to create a business where everyone feels welcome, guests return regularly, locals support us and in turn we have a great reputation and a thriving business.
“Having made this our home for the last 17 years, the time has come for us to retire and step away from the business, but we will be sad to leave. We have been privileged to have met wonderful guests over the years, and we do hope that the new owners will enjoy their time here as much as we have.”
Graham Wilkinson of Christie & Co stated that the hotel caters to leisure and business guests, as well as hosting weddings and functions.
He said: “Businesses that offer a range of income streams, a great location and a strong reputation are always much sought after and as such we anticipate a good level of interest.”
