Kricket continuing its expansion with the launch of a new site in Covent Garden

The modern Indian restaurant group Kricket is set to open a spacious new location in Covent Garden later this year, expanding its London presence to five restaurants.

The opening follows the recent launch of a site in Canary Wharf late last year and another in Shoreditch at the beginning of last month.

Situated in Neal’s Yard within Covent Garden’s Seven Dials area, the new Kricket site will span 4,000 sq ft and accommodate over 130 diners. Similar to its Shoreditch location, it will operate as an all-day restaurant, including breakfast service.

Campbell and Bowlby established Kricket as a pop-up in a shipping container at Pop Brixton in 2015. The following year, after securing initial funding from White Rabbit Projects (WRP), they opened their first permanent restaurant in Soho.

The duo, who also operate the bar concept SOMA in Soho and Canary Wharf, recently secured additional funding from White Rabbit Projects (WRP).

In addition to its restaurants, Kricket operates a delivery-only concept through an exclusive partnership with Deliveroo, launched in 2021 in response to the Coronavirus pandemic. The service remains active, fulfilling 2,000 orders per week.

“Covent Garden is already home to the city’s best dining concepts, and the addition of Kricket, with their take on Indian cuisine that blends Indian flavours with London’s culinary creativity, will complement this line-up,” says Emma Matus, head of restaurant leasing at landlord Shaftesbury Capital.

“The signing is among the first of many new dining options set to be introduced to the destination this year, as we get ready to bolster Covent Garden’s high calibre offer with new, unique and diverse concepts.”
