After first bringing the Knickerbocker Glory to Britain in 1952 and its extraordinary Champagne Pops in 2017, and home to the award-winning Parlour in Piccadilly, Fortnum & Mason’s ice cream credentials are second to none.
Now the iconic retailer is pleased to announce its four new and limited-edition ice cream flavours, inspired by the nation’s favourite British summertime scents – chosen by the public.
First, Fortnum’s fans and followers were asked their favourite summer scents both in store and on social media. The winning results have now been transformed into rather unusual, never-before-seen flavours by Fortnum’s ice cream experts.
The four new flavours launching exclusively in its ice-cream destination restaurant on the 1st floor (The Parlour) on 16 July are:
Freshly Cut Grass
With a creamy and smooth texture and a natural green colour to reflect the mowed grass that signals the welcome arrival of summer each year, this subtle and sweet treat uses real hay to create the final product.
Suntan Lotion
A coconut-flavoured delight, and pearly white in colour. Supremely delicious – just don’t go slathering it all over yourself.
Blackpool Rock Classic
A refreshingly minty ice cream run through with red sugar syrup, enjoy the seaside holiday staple without the arduous chomping
Seat Salt Spray
Transport your tastebuds to the fresh sea air with each salty-sweet mouthful. Sea Salt Spray is a salted ice cream with a perfect balance of sweetness. Creamy in texture, the turquoise colour might be the closest many of us get to the Mediterranean this summer.
The Sundae & Coupe
The innovative flavours also make up a brand new Sundae and Coupe, for those who fancy a little bit extra of The Parlour magic, or to share. It includes a scoop each of the Blackpool Rock, Sea Spray and Freshly Cut Grass ice creams, alongside Whipped Cream, Candy Floss, and Seaside Sprinkles, designed to evoke memories of summers spent by the British seaside.
The Summer Coupe contains a delicious combination of fresh raspberries, Freshly Cut Grass ice cream and crisp meringue – a summer-in-a-coupe combination, and the perfect refreshment pit-stop when visiting Fortnum’s Piccadilly this summer.
