Peel’s £650m Chatham Docks mixed-use scheme gets go-ahead


Developer Peel’s £650m plan to transform a 26 acre site at Chatham Docks has been given the green light by Medway Council and is set to create almost 3,500 jobs.

Peel Land & Property’s outline planning application for Chatham Waters will transform the current brownfield site into an impressive mixed use development incorporating; offices, an education facility, an ‘EventCity’, hotel, apartments, town houses, food store as well as landscaped public areas.

James Whittaker, Development Director at Peel said, “It will regenerate and breathe new life into a significant area of the dockland and give the region a real economic boost. We will also start preparing detailed plans for the first phase and we hope to be start building on the site next year.'
