Levy secures new multimillion-pound contract with Excel London

Levy UK and Ireland has secured a new multimillion-pound contract with Excel London, coinciding with the events centre's planned 25,000 sq m expansion.

Levy, the sports, entertainment, and events division of Compass Group UK & Ireland, has been Excel’s food and beverage partner since its opening in 2000, serving over 400 events and four million visitors annually.

In 2023, both companies extended their catering contract for an additional 22 years.

As part of the new agreement, Levy has introduced a dining experience for Excel's revamped waterfront entertainment district, Immerse LDN, featuring the Waterfront Street Kitchen and Bar.

The menu will feature street food inspired by global cuisines, serving both Excel visitors and residents of London’s Royal Docks.

Designed to enhance the broader events business, it features a bespoke space for meetings, exhibitor parties, and corporate events.

Excel’s expanded site, set to open soon, will feature a new ICC convention centre with exhibition halls and conference rooms, making it Europe’s largest fully integrated conference and exhibition venue.

Additionally, Levy will enhance its in-venue food and beverage offerings within Excel’s upcoming 25,000 sq m expansion, introducing features such as carbon food labelling, 50% plant-based menus, and 100% recyclable or reusable packaging.

Levy has already launched the UK’s first 'checkout-free' store, Market Express, at event venues, along with touch-screen ordering systems in several outlets.

Excel’s chief commercial officer Simon Mills said: “This reinforced strategic partnership further cements our long-term investment and commitment to London’s event industry, particular as Excel begins an exciting new chapter with the opening of our new waterfront, Immerse LDN and of course our forthcoming expansion.”

Jon Davies, chief executive at Levy, said: “We’re incredibly proud to be part of this exciting phase of Excel’s history, where it is set to become the UK’s largest immersive entertainment district and Europe’s largest fully integrated conference and exhibition venue.

“The continuation of our long-standing partnership allows us to push the boundaries of innovation in food, technology and sustainability, while delivering exceptional experiences.”

The terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
