Signature to transform Cardiff Coal Exchange to hotel

Signature Living has announced it has signed a deal which it says will see Cardiff's historical Coal Exchange building converted into a luxury 200-suite hotel as part of a £40m project to restore the building to its former glory.

The 127-year-old venue, once the headquarters of the coal industry in south Wales, was used for concerts and events until it was closed without notice in June 2013 for safety reasons.

Signature Living have previously restored Liverpool’s Grade II listed Albion House, which was once home to the Titanic’s White Star Line headquarters.

The derelict building has now been turned into a Titanic-themed hotel complete with White Star Grand Hall which hosts weddings and large events.

The venue had also been derelict for a number of years before the £5.5m conversion
