Westfield Stratford City is to welcome the arrival of Café Football In December, the joint venture between footballers Ryan Giggs and Gary Neville.
The 140-seat venue will be ‘inspired by the game’ and ‘capture the authentic football culture’ through its food, cocktail and décor. The menu, which has been created by two-Michelin-starred chef Michael Wignall and then prepared by executive chef, Brendan Fyldes, will feature traditional British dishes with a twist such as fish pie, steak, pie and sausage roll. Desserts will include the Half-time orange (parfait and cream with orange cocoa butter and green marzipan, giving the appearance of a real citrus fruit), Pistachio Turf (pistachio sponge and chocolate in the form of a football pitch), and Melting Chocolate Football.
Depite having never been involved in restaurants before, Giggs and Neville, both Manchester United legends, have played a vast part in the creation of their new site.
The duo launched hospitality company GG Hospitality earlier this year and plan to open Hotel Football in Manchester in 2014.
